Nah, Americans in the north don't typically go all MAH TRADISHUNS. This is really just dressed up xenophobia/racism and what they don't get is *they're* the problem.

Theyre complaining about immigrants not assimilating, which is an old old complaint and is basically dressed up racism.

What they're missing is if people are going somewhere and not interacting with the broader locals, it's usually because the broader locals suck.

Very true, community theatre has a sense of place. There's both a rehearsal and a performance space, often not the same but both have identity of place tied to a community.

AP communities' idea of place is wherever the audience is, and the performers place is tied to convenience & function.

I think maybe that calling it too early takes some agency away from the players if you're not certain YOU want a fight. And if you call too early too often, you're probably sending the message that your game is fight heavy, maybe even murder-hobo friendly? I like to emphasise alternative solutions.
