Historian friend was reading a civil war era letter in an archive, the letter said “In this envelope I include my smallpox scabs” and sure enough there they were. Had to call CDC for a hazmat team.

And all of these things are made accessible to you because of human people who work at libraries. From folks doing purchasing negotiations to keeping equipment functional, everything you can borrow is a product of human beings working.
At some libraries you can also rent cameras, gardening tools, podcasting equipment, or museum and zoo passes too. You can get access to Rosetta Stone or Ancestry(.)com and streaming networks for shows and movies. The libraries have evolved with the times and is one of the few free resources left.
