My parents attended one room schools in rural Ontario. They barely made it through high school as they were so grossly unprepared. The dismantling of public education takes me back to that. Education absolutely must be equitable in content and accessibility.

Well, that’s not realistic. We can reduce known stressors. But we can’t “eliminate” all stressors, especially when kids come unsettled for reasons we can’t know. My school has 2 EAs for 200 kids. No one to remove kids to get settled.

That’s a tough one. Posting stats has little impact. IMHO those aren’t the kids impacting classrooms like that. IMHO it’s the deregulated and kids and it could have been avoided IF someone was there to remove them from the stressor as needed.

Perhaps, but isn’t that the cruxt of the argument - that stdts get to their lowest point without supports?
We’ve normalized violence, whatever the cause. Stdts absolutely deserve the supports they need. They also deserve safe environments.

They do tell the story of the impact on the peers, the educator, and the classrooms. It’s not targeting the child, it’s highlighting the unmet needs.
