Today the Rainbow Room children enjoyed a trip to the park where they explored the swings, slide and climbing frame. The children showed great gross motor skills by running climbing and jumping.🛝😁

Last week we picked our potatoes that we had been growing. We then peeled and chopped them up to make some chips. Yum 😋

We played with some spaghetti investigating how it feels. We used spoons and tongs to transport the spaghetti to the plates.

In the ladybird room we were exploring our senses in the shaving foam. Feeling it with our hands and scooping it with the spoons. It was like “ice cream”.

Today we prepared and cooked some banana roll ups on the fire.
We worked together to set up the fire pit and counted how many sparks of the flint and steel it would take to start the fire.
“1, 2, 3, 4, 5”
We enjoyed our tasty snack around the warmth of the fire!

The ladybird’s have been trying lots of new flavoured water in our taste testing sessions. Today we tried watermelon water which was a very big hit! We loved it so much we prepared some more for afternoon snack.

Continuing with our mark making we made some gloop, providing the children with the opportunity to mark make with different tools. Today we used sticks to mark make in the gloop

Today we have been exploring different ways to mark make in the messy area. Some of our friends helped to make puffy paint to allow us to do this. The children used a variety of different brushes and rollers, as well as their hands to create their wonderful pictures.

After seeing the real police car we went back to our block area and worked together to build our police car. We looked back at our pictures of the police car to see what specific parts we needed to add to the vehicle. We recreated the cage at the back and role played being locked in the car.

In the butterfly room we have been building police cars in the block area. We had a visit from the police so that we could see the parts we needed to build our police car. We got to hear the siren, watch the lights and sit in the back of the car. This was a very fun day for us!

In the ladybird room we added ice to our role play as we enjoy our “ice cream shop”. We had lots of discussions about how the ice felt and watched it melt away in the sun.

The ladybird room has been using new kitchen equipment to help make some healthy hummus for afternoon snack time. We worked together to prepare each ingredient and kept ourselves safe as we turned on the food processor

Today we had our first fire pit session of the term with some children from the butterfly room. The children learned the rules we must follow to keep ourself safe around the fire pit.
