Writer. 20th century domestic history. Lover of the nine times table. Veg grower. Never knowingly without a project.

I wish they would exclude anything published in the last century (or the one before that).

Interesting.

Thank you.
I am very interested in the narrative but it took so long to read it and I almost gave up.

No, it’s up to maximum brightness, I think. Just checked. Same on the laptop.

With strong cheddar?

Shame it’s almost unreadable because the text is grey on black.
Not any better on a laptop.

I wonder if there is an actual rule?
Surely this could have been anticipated and there will be something written down in a dusty book in the Holyrood basement?

It’s going to be a bun fight.
Do constituency votes carry more weight than the list?
May 9, 2026 at 6:55 AM
Is it based on number of votes? Are constituency votes worth more than list?
And what’s going to happen about who is the opposition? First questions? Where will they sit? Do they change seats every week as though they are taking a weekly maths test and the teacher is moving the desks every Friday?

I have a soft spot for Fred. I really enjoyed writing his blog :)
He changed a lot over the course of the book.

Isn’t it! Complete beginning to end manufacturing. Even the needles. Amazing.
I crammed as much into the notes as possible. If you happen to read 25 Library Terrace, I’ve done the same, but don’t read the Acknowledgements before you read the book because it might spoil it!
Thank you!

The fondant bit is almost worse than the chocolate.
Give me a @marmite sandwich any day.

Dairy Milk is horrible now.
Pity about the windfall though.

Thank you.
Marmite on toast, and binge watching Blue Bloods on Christmas Day is an absolutely acceptable way to spend the 25th, thankfully.
Plus, I have magnificent friends.

I have had flu for a week so haven’t done any Christmas food shopping. A kind friend bought essentials for me yesterday (milk and satsumas). I will happily be eating marmite on toast on Christmas Day, if I can get out of bed by then.

What a lovely thing to say.
Thank you.
I hope you enjoy the last quarter of it. ❤️

I’ll look out for it.
Current favourite shop is Ginger Twist Studio at Abbeyhill.
A riot of colour and textiles.
