Trump 2.0 has taught all the villains and henchmen in our cursed era that a relentless momentum of villainy will keep them safe. Never apologize. Never admit defeat or wrongdoing. Believe in the lie and no lie detector can touch you. The opposition will tire and grow cynical. And here we are.

It’s really hard not to despair about how seemingly every backstop for disaster seems to be purposefully failing. The trend will end, it always does, but it’s hard to see how at the moment.

A board probably WOULD step in if there were large scale, sustained outrage. But anti-RW narratives are starved and drowned. Ignored. All that’s “old news” now.

At best, narrative-setters look at the 2024 election as objective proof that no horror is a dealbreaker, approval ratings be damned.
