Not to be rude, but I think the last Decade of MAGA women in the Trump administration has somewhat damaged this argument.

In 1843 there were, it was said, 20 millionaires in all of the U.S. in 1863 there were over 100 in New York alone.

In 1863 JP Morgan bought a $300 box of cigars.
Riots broke out in 1863 in response to America’s first draft. Rioters were heard to yell, “there goes a $300 man!” A man who had paid for a substitute to take his place in the draft. Excluding the rich from public services is dangerous.

Republicans are no longer republican. Discuss among yourselves.

There was a time, just after January 6th when people like Niki HaLey and Ron DeSantis were ascendant, when the GOP hoped to be rid of Trump, but were too power hungry and cowardly to do it themselves. They hoped, secretly, that the Democrats and their investigations would do it.
0 for 27. The Trump regime keeps marching into court to put its finger on the midterms. But judges, including Trump’s own appointees, are proving a thick judicial wall of “no.” My write-up in the link in the comments.

In all honesty, Trump will probably force them to impeach him.
First, it’s a dumb question. Democrats aren’t just going to charge in and impeach Trump on day one. They’re going to hold hearings, investigate Trump and his minims. We’ll see where the evidence and Trump’s response takes us.
Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea.

I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there.

I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Everyone kept saying he’s a eugenicist, and of course he was with his desire to rid the world of autistic people by letting millions of people die of preventable diseases, but also, he’s a racist breed people like show dogs racist type eugenicist. Just needs the stache and the red arm band.

How many times does a Republican vote fit a Democrat before they’re basically a Democrat. Some Republicans have been doing it for a decade.

There’s never been a time in American history when “maybe we shouldn’t totally exploit blacks,” hasn’t been maliciously framed as reverse racism.
Ehh

Junius Morgan hoped his son, JP, touring the South in late 1859, would not “get taken up for ‘a white man’ in a country where Blacks seem to be thought of so much more importance”

In 1859 JP Morgan, working for his father, toured the South to assess the “railroads, banks, and cotton merchants,” they did business with.

The Duke of Wellington referred to his own soldiers as “the scum of the earth.” The British Navy of that time relied on legalized kidnapping to fill its ranks, and it has been said it ran on “rum, sodomy, and the lash.” These are the views of very snobby, very rich people, but…

During the panic of 1857 JP Morgan, a young clerk in a family friend’s firm, literally went out into “the Street” to hear the gossip of passers by.

Not metaphorical, but literal word on the street. Times they have changed.

I think this is part of a long standing idea within the GOP. It was the central theme of Rush Limbaugh’s show in the 90’s. “Victim mentality.” In other words, no one is a victim. They choose not to solve their problems, and want “us” to do it for them. The twist?
The most fundamental belief of the Strict-Father worldview is that kids are property.
In MAGA, parental estrangement is a big issue — and parents are held out as blameless victims.

I suspect that's one reason why Vivek Ramaswamy ran an ad celebrating Amy Acton's vile mother.

And why MAGA — including Vance and Trump — are backing him.

In 1853 19% of US based securities were owned by Europeans. Today around 25% are owned by foreigners. This proved good for the U.S. in the 19th century, as it was part of a flow of money from Europeans to American companies.

I think this captures the quiet quitters who may return to Trump. The 12 point difference between Dems on the generic ballot and Trump’s approval rating. Both would have to be wildly off to have surprising ejection results. The question is, will GOPs lose another point or two.
New NYT/Siena: Trump disapproval at net +23%, generic at D +11.

A big wave. And if a couple of percentage points more of Trump disapprovers could be induced to vote Democratic to check Trump, or at least to stay home, it's tsunami city.
