Every time someone big in the animation scene does something the rest of us can't forgive, there's always a bunch of people who leap to their defense and out themselves alongside them.
Be prepared for some of your other heroes to join them. I can't really look past plagiarism, so goodbye to them 🤷

If I remember correctly, the Bancroft brothers called for prayers for Charlie Kirk, Stephen Silver came out as an anti-vaxxer, now the Gutierrez affair - it appears it's not a good time to look to (male) role-models in the animation world.

That’s basically it. As much as I love what I do, we choose shots and acting, those shots and acting are disposable because they are at the whim of directors/producers. We shouldn’t be responsible for keyframing, animatic or timing. That’s a more solid part of the pipeline, when decisions are made.

While I'm glad that indie animation has been thriving, another reminder that shouting "go indie" at animators and creators is not helpful.
Going indie requires lots of time, money, resources, and connections that many people in the industry don't have.

Here’s the thing and I’m gonna tell you: a lot of fans are why so many creators just don’t want to create anymore. And so many of them are oddly proud of their ability to bully.
In order for cartoons as a concept to survive, they need to knock that shit off.

Comics schools need to beef up their comics writing and professional practices classes + we urgently need more platforms and journalism to support original graphic novels + more people who know about comics should apply their skills to parts of the publishing industry besides design and editorial.
Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

Like this is just downright awful. ( My views are my own and do not come from my employer in any way) ( Unfortunately) But I think everyone in animation should be appalled and disgusted by this , hell anyone in entertainment. This is a slope down the hill of using AI to make everything and cut us .

Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.
We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.
We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

I can’t recommend enough that if you want to become a comic writer, you need to read comics. It’s so tempting to try to shove a wall of text into one page or a ton of scene changes, but that makes it really hard on artists to be able to properly adapt that
