Webb’s infrared sensitivity has revealed the protostars & stars of NGC 7129, a stellar nursery that lies 3,300 light-years from Earth.

A young star cluster filled with many stars that display Webb’s unique eight-pronged diffraction pattern. At its center is a yellow star which sports the largest diffraction pattern. To the left of the star, there is a region filled with yellow dust and gas that extends from the star to the left border of the image. This yellow region extends from the bottom, covering about two-thirds of the image. The yellow region has several blue stars of different sizes embedded within. The top third, which lies outside of the yellow region, holds a few bright protostars, within dense gray gas. Those stars illuminate the gas, making it appear blue. A few red outflows from other protostars are visible above this grayish-blue region. To the right of the central star, there is a clumpy, flame-like plume of red dust and gas with protostars that emit a soft white light within. The plume is surrounded by more dense gray gas and dust. HiPOD: Trundling Boulders

These trundling boulders left behind conspicuous tracks, up to a kilometer long. The tracks resemble dashed lines or perforations, indicating that the boulders bounced as they trundled down the slopes.

Astronomers estimate that there are 500,000 stars within this #NASAWebb image of Sagittarius C. One of the most densely packed areas lies within the dark, U-shaped region at the top left of the cyan-colored cloud of ionized hydrogen: https://bit.ly/4zeme64
A funnel-shaped region of space appears darker than its surroundings with fewer stars. It is wider at the top edge of the image, narrowing toward the bottom. At the bottom, a small clump of red and white appears to shoot out streamers upward and left. A large, bright, cyan-colored area surrounds the lower portion of the funnel-shaped dark area, forming a rough U shape. The cyan-colored area has needle-like, linear structures and becomes more diffuse in the center. The right side is dominated by clouds of orange and red, with a purple haze. There are thousands of pinpoints of light, a multitude of stars, throughout the view.

Here is a difficult object to photograph from the light-polluted skies of Peoria.
IC1396--a.k.a. the Elephant's Trunk Nebula--is a sinuous dark nebula in Cepheus. A massive nearby star causes the surrounding gas to glow, but cannot penetrate the dense dark dust and gas.
A dim red nebula with a snaking dark nebula. 60 minute exposure with a 50mm f5 250mm focal length triplet refractor using a Sony IMX462, 2.1 megapixel sensor and a broadband filter.

Ok, so I was tempted to image the SN in NGC7331, but wanted to follow through with some more data on M33 from last night. Updated image (4hrLum, 1hr+R,G,B), plus a comparison between the 120mm triplet and a very good 65mm quintuplet. #science #astronomy #astrophotography #space #pixinsight
