And a lot of the optimism, as I experience it, was that if you were the kind of nerd who was on the early Internet at all, the people gaining power were *us*. Us the good guys. Nerds with good nerd values. I feel sometimes there's an insufficient sense of not just anger, but betrayal.

Okay, I am going to tell a little story.

It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it.

But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing.

It's about the Uncanny X-Men.

You sing along to modern Australian disco and dance pop, the game is Minoguelike.
You play in a boat on the bayou: the game is piroguelike.
You play as a shoe: The game is broguelike.

Weird accomplishments;

I have an official My Little Pony based on me

Deadpool uses my name in the first two movies and spoke at length about Women In Refrigerators

I turned down Gene Simmons, Paris Hilton and Bacardi.

My name was officially made into Babs Gordon’s middle name.

More to come!

Christ, they couldn't even come up with the spine to say "we'll prosecute blatant bribery and crimes against humanity in detention facilities".
Project 2025 promised a right-wing revolution in American government.

Democrats’ Project 2029 promises to ... take on the “annoyance economy” and cut down on surprise fees and impossible cancellations.

From me:

Opinion | Project 2029 sure doesn’t look like an answer to Project 2025
A Democratic group is displaying a puzzling lack of ambition for the party’s policy vision.

So, a quick story.

I have been at @comicpalooza.bsky.social, been swamped with long lines almost the entire weekend so far, and there was this very nice gentleman named Jin (not sure of the spelling). He came the first day and said he was bringing books the next day to get signed.

I have a pair of Tempest Lotus Petals and a Stronghold Sliver Queen (that has a signature I'm 99% sure is not actually Ron Silver's).

They are the oldest surviving cards from my original collection, and exactly what I grabbed when I had to bolt from my abusive ex-wife, in case I had to sell to eat.
Are there any cards in your collection that are effectively unsellable (except in dire need/emergency type situations)? Like the cards you'd reach for first if you had to bolt but reach for last if you had to sell?

"Okay, I play Spongebob Squarepants-"

"You lying sack of shit, that isn't a real card. I'm using Dismember-"

"How the hell are you casting that on one open land? With that on the stack, I flashback Fervent Denial-"

"You can't just play cards from the graveyard! AND WHAT THE FUCK IS THE STACK?!"
A "Coping with Multiple Generations in the Workplace" instructional video but it's just a game of Commander featuring four players who each started the game in a different decade.

It should be painfully clear that he very badly does NOT want to be out across the country. He wants people to need permission to come to him, where all his desires are instantly fulfilled and on display, and where no discontent peasants can be heard.

It exemplifies his mindset of being a king.
Leavitt: "It'd be very easy for the president to just hunker down here at the White House where he knows he's safe, but the president wants to be out across the country"

It wouldn't be the worst thing to have Democrats take a page from the right wing playbook here and say "No, and you should be fucking embarrassed to have asked that question." Trump's a child-raping con artist that delights in getting revenge against anyone that upsets him, and says worse DAILY.
BASH: You and your fellow Democrats have used some heated rhetoric against the president. Do you think twice about that when something like that happens?

RASKIN: What rhetoric do you have in mind?

BASH: That he's terrible for this country and so on and so forth

I figured I would have seen at least one or two highlights of suck-up jokes from the White House Correspondents Dinner come across my feed by now. Guess nobody's killing it there tonight.

Because someone gave him polling data that it was likely to pass, and Trump will risk being publicly branded a loser for precisely no one.
Q: Why didn't the president campaign more actively against the Virginia referendum?

LEAVITT: He has a lot on his plate. He did host a telephone call the night before the election.

You know who didn't survive? Lia Smith, who killed herself a few months after Wu preached against trans healthcare on her campus.

Wu is a persistent failure of a person who channels her self-loathing into hate. If she wants sympathy now, she can find it between shit and syphilis in a dictionary.
I'm genuinely concerned for her at this point.

Every Republican I've see in VA today is FLOORED that "This makes you just as bad when you do it" & "You're hypocrites, you're against gerrymandering", isn't working.

It's about fucking time.

I've screamed it for years - the less fucks the left has over the right's moral outrage, the more we win.

Graham Platner is an inept Republican plant.

He says all the right things, but he didn't stop holding hateful beliefs, which is why he keeps falling backwards into Nazi/white supremacy shit.
in honor of The Onion officially taking over InfoWars, what’s a conspiracy theory you 100% believe?

Michael Jordan was doing the exact same shit as Pete Rose (gambling on games his team played in) during his playing career and Nike+the NBA have…done what it took to keep that quiet.

My entire adult life, I've heard that we can't cut defense spending, cut police budgets, tax billionaires, or spend money on things like universal healthcare, infrastructure, housing.

These principles have been sacred for half a century, and look at where it's gotten us.

Fuck the sacred cows.
also not that it matters because bsky but similar to how billionaires have a lot of money and also taxing them at 110% of their wealth alone would not be a drop in the bucket of $ required for govt social services bc of the scale, the defense budget is not the endless piggybank the left thinks it is
