The Haudenosaunee regained 600 acres of land back!

The Six Narions Iroquois center run by David Fadden, a Mohawk citizen, acquired the land from Paul Smith's College in New York

The goal is to restore the local ecosystem, build a youth camp, and enforce the land's rules in English and Mohawk

Some good Indigenous news! The Yurok Tribe of California will get 125 acres of its #landback and be the 1st US tribe to co-manage it with the National Park Service. The sacred land, stoIen to extract redwood trees and gold, will now be used by the Yurok for ceremony and environmental education

The Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone fight to not lose 110,000 acres to Wyoming. The 2 tribes have fought to reclaim this land since 1939 yet, the federal gov’t introduced the Power Butte Conveyance Act to transfer power plant on that land to Wyoming, overturning the tribal claim to land

🇨🇦: A Cold Lake First Nation man was unalived by Canada’s RCMP force. Fabian Skani allegedly had an “edged weapon” when the RCMP’s use of force happened. His brother said he was “trying to rebuild his life”. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) plans to investigate the RCMP here.

🇲🇽: The Inter-American Court of Human Rights condemns the Mexican state for the 1999 disappearance of Antonio González Méndez (Mayan). The disappearance happened under President Zedillo’s Chiapas 94 Campaign Plan, a paramilitary counter-insurgency targeting Zapatistas and civilian sympathizers.
