Today I learned why pitch accent is important in Japanese.

異常　and　以上

Both are pronounced いじょう

So the only way to differentiate them is the pitch accent, shown below:

I mean, I don't blame them for shutting it off. It was hella dated and hard to navigate, and I doubt anyone but my Uni was using it at this point.

But I've followed it through up to this point, and I wanna have access to it going further 🥲

もう一週間頑張った～～

Biggest addition is that I added a new deck for word definitions from monolingual dictionaries. Helps to learn some compound words, that have a closely related verb. Or just vocab I encounter there in general, so that even if I forget a word, I don't have to use the English translation.

First week of Anki done!

I'm gonna start posting these as weekly updates from now on, or if I change something major about the decks.

One thing that I've changed is increased the Kanji kentei deck new cards to 4, since a lot of the level 10 kanji are too easy. Probably going to push it up to 6.

Day 6 done!

I've been increasing new cards from some of the decks day by day. The reviews are still relatively easy.

Also since I've started going through the textbook, since I've been blasting through the initial vocab.

It's fun to dig around files on my PC and find random shit I've made and forgot about.

I totally forgot that I started making a "Faith: The Unholy Trinity" inspired game. Worked on it for like a week prolly and just dropped off of it.

Day 5 DONE!

I've been reading a lot more of DB and digging for new vocab, mainly cause I want to slowly increase new cards per day for sentence mining and for the textbook vocab. Both contain a generous amount of refresher cards, so they're still quite easy to blast through.

I used to use a template peddled by Refold for doing Yomitan->Anki, and I found that I prefer very bare bones notes.

Also lowkey shocked that I can read at a decent speed, I blasted through 3-4 chapters in like 15-20mins.

今日の勉強は終わった～～

• History deck still remains empty
• Manga deck got some cards (currently reading DB)
• Got reminded how much harder it is to do writing recall as compared to reading (Textbook deck has Word -> Meaning recall and Audio -> Writing recall)

After a long snooze from using Anki on the regular, I've reorganized and gonna get back to it.

I've been thinking of posting daily updates, just to keep myself accountable. Also fun to see the progress day by day.

I've been reading a bunch of stuff about the Jomon Period, and learning motion design stuff on the side.

So I made a mock-up for a Jomon Period themed video essay thing. Might end up making it, if I manage to get through all the books and papers first 🥲
