My father-in-law is a retired federal agent. The start of his career coincided with the Civil Service Reform Act. And his stories about the decades it took to root out the corruption that was allowed to fester before that make me very worried about how long it'll take to fix what SCOTUS did today.
Slaughter is an earthquake: SCOTUS has overturned a 90-year-old precedent that facilitated much of modern governance by granting many agencies meaningful independence from the president. Now SCOTUS crushes that independence ... for seemingly every agency except the Federal Reserve.
