#AI still hasn’t delivered the broad productivity gains, employment savings, or financial returns used to justify the frenzy.

Perhaps we have been measuring the wrong ROI.

The promised return was productivity. The immediate return may be control.

The Real ROI of AI Isn’t Financial. It’s Control.
AI has not yet produced the broad productivity gains, employment savings, or financial returns needed to explain the urgency surrounding it. Its clearest return so far may instead be a shift in power ...

I'm struggling to understand those complaining about "reputational loss" due to Trump and FIFA's action's yesterday.

We're talking Trump and FIFA folks. These actions are on-brand for both. You can't lose a reputation you don't have.

@mikiesherrill.bsky.social I I voted for you and I expect better from you. Number one, tell the truth, number two, shut this damn site down – even if you have to instruct state troopers to arrest federal agents on state property, number three, subpoena and arrest the CEO of the company running it.
Yikes — Gov @mikiesherrill.bsky.social community noted for lying about who knocked over the barricades

(spoiler: it was the police)

For 20+ years, the #collaboration industry has chased the same promise:

“Millions of unequipped meeting rooms” waiting for the right solution.

But what even counts as an “equipped room” in 2026? And was it ever true?

How far can you get into an AI press release or industry article before your brain quietly replaces the rest with blah, blah, blah?

Here are the 7 reader “personas” – because the tech world had already over-rotated on persona research long before on AI doublespeak.

The Seven AI Attention Span Personas
There was a time when a press release or industry article had a relatively simple job. It was supposed to tell you what happened, who did it, and whether the thing in question mattered.

right now the astronauts are calling houston because the computer on the spaceship is running two instances of microsoft outlook and they can't figure out why. nasa is about to remote into the computer

Back in 2014, Microsoft’s first real InfoComm presence felt almost reluctant – a big booth, a few displays, and a lot of empty space.

Now, in 2026, Microsoft and Cisco are both keynoting the show.

I can't begin to fathom how bad it will be for Paramount to own WB. Say goodbye to all the HBO honest documentaries, not to mention @lastweektonight1.bsky.social The level of censorship expected will decimate free speech.

Watching companies that gutted loyal teams now brag about “exciting new roles” feels surreal.

I just wrote a LinkedIn post on the coming wave of toxic, distrust-filled workplaces – and why building a 20-year career at a layoff-happy firm makes no sense. www.linkedin.com/posts/davidd...
Look at firms that are posting job openings nowadays. Remember when “our people are our greatest asset” actually meant something, and wasn’t just the slide before “cost optimization” in the earnings…...

I used to be a big fan of the Dilbert comic strip. When I found out the author was a racist & idiot I stopped following it. I hear he died yesterday. RIP, but he died in my eyes many years ago.

When something/someone I admire turns out to be an idiot, I have the critical thinking to change my mind.
