A quiet potter round Potter Heigham with Dave. 5 green sands and 2 black tailed godwit were a hint of waders moving. Also nice to see hummingbird hawmoth sat still and a zooming stoat.

Potter Heigham provided some good birding this morning. A female red footed falcon, some interesting plastic geese and a bittern headed the cast...

A rainy walk at Potter heigham this morning. As well as continuing my education in gull ID and getting waterlogged, I saw a few birds - 1st winter little gull, hobby, bittern, green shank and 15 black wits. Also my first swallowtail butterfly of the year

Interesting morning at Waxham. V brief view of ring tail harrier dipping below trees, little owl, sining garden warbler and the interesting stonechat were the main diversions....

14 whimbrel lots of hirundines flying south, wheatear, barwit and this handsome whinchat were scattered along our walk at Waxham this morning. My first green hairstreak of the year too. Lovely!

Spring sprung at Waxham this morning. 2 wheatear joined a willow warbler, whitethroats, chiffchaffs, blackcap, swallow, sand Martins and a house Martin. A wintry Iceland gull lingered on the beach though

I started reading The Meaning of Geese by @themarshtit.bsky.social to my 9 year old who has never been into birds (into medieval Norfolk churches). Today he insisted on a wild goose chase: thousands of pinkfeet, + greylags, Egyptian geese & 5 tundra bean geese nr Waxham. Child now drawing pinkfeet

Amazing otter encounter today at Potter heigham. The adult trotted up to me with cub 8n mouth, spotted me, dropped cub and ran away. I quietly retreated, sat and watched as the young otter called it's parent back.

A walk in fog on Saturday at Potter Heigham Marsh. A peregrine ruffled large numbers if lapwing and ducks in the murk. Biggest surprise was a briefly surfacing seal (common I think) in the river thurne

Excitement in my Norwich garden when a woodcock appeared in my tiny garden. It struggled to fly, so I caught it to check for injury. No damage, but no fat reserves. Exhausted I guess. It had flown off when I checked at lunchtime

Great to see a crisp adult hen harrier arriving over the see at Waxham yesterday. 2 snow bunting flew along the dunes and a few seal pups were on the beach too

Murky mist first thing dropped lots of migrating birds to the ground at Waxham this morning. At least 2, probably 3 siberian chiffchaffs and a black redstart made the bird news reports, but the real highlight was the phenomenal numbers of thrushes - many thousands.

Rainy and quiet at Waxham this morning. A spotted flycatcher at Shangri la, and a brief black redstart over the Great barn were highlights.
