This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen.

Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !”

How a Canadian scientist and a venomous lizard helped pave the way for Ozempic - National | Globalnews.ca
In 1984, Dr. Daniel Drucker, an endocrinologist from the University of Toronto, discovered a hormone that helped pave the way for popular diabetes drugs such as Ozempic.

"The Dems got played so hard banning tiktok"

The only person being played is you for *once again* uncritically accepting Republican framing of an issue *they* caused.

That's pathetic and if you weren't morally lucky you would be voting Republican.

Leftists need to realize that they are an extremely slim minority. Their only true power lies in the fact that they can shame young impressionable voters not to vote by equivocating liberals with fascists. This rhetoric doesn't combat fascism, it downplays the very real threat of right wing fascism.

This is the exact same argument used by the people who claim to that Al Gore would have also started the Iraq War so it was fine we spent the whole election ratfucking him. It's unfalsifiable masturbation used to absolve yourself of any need for actual introspection.

If you want to understand why healthcare pricing is horrific, the first thing to know is that our system puts 100% of the credit risk for deductibles, copays and co-insurance on hospitals and doctors. That's insane.

We have turned them into Sub Prime Lenders 🧵
December 10, 2024 at 6:46 PM
I've been saying this for over a decade. When someone files for medical bankruptcy... Where does the money owed to the hospital go?

It's distributed onto everyone else.

You will always be paying for someone else's healthcare anytime you use the system no matter what.
When they can't collect payment, they raise prices to make up that loss.

Plus they need to have all the administration of a mortgage loan servicer to try to collect those amounts. Which of course also puts people who can't afford the cost, in medical debt, which often leads to bankruptcy

Leftist reality: Kamala's platform on undocumented immigrants was identical to Trump's.

Actual reality: Kamala wants to improve the asylum process, create a pathway to citizenship for the undocumented, and invest heavily in countries south of the border to improve the quality of life there.
Leftist didn't vote for her because she was already saying this kind of shit.
December 10, 2024 at 6:36 PM
My hope is that all of the leftists who didn't vote for Kamala or actively depressed voting for her through their online rhetoric and see this sentiment as cruel negligence eventually buy a mirror. 🙏
Democrats should spend exactly zero political capital stopping any Trump deportation efforts.

It is madness to spend capital trying to help people who are no longer a major part of your electoral coalition.

Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

“Why not listen to ideas you disagree with?”

My man, we’ve heard it all already. Conservatives have been recycling and regurgitating the same arguments for centuries. It’s an ouroboros of bigotry and Calvinism. It’s boring and I’d pity them but they want to kill the rest of us.

It was just inflation. It didn't have fuck all to do with "too progressive" or "too centrist" or "too hawkish" or whatever your personal pet project is

We have the exit polls. It was the economy. Like every other incumbent in the entire fucking world
I agree. And many of them saw that he offered a clear rejection of a political and cultural vision—way of speaking, thinking, organizing and signaling—that they absolutely hated. Many found his corruption and authoritarianism *preferable* to the great awokening they’d been subjected to.
Trump voters voted for Trump because they saw what he offers and want it.
They're not kids or mindless automatons. They're adults with agency who made a choice.
Nobody forced them to.
But congrats on the success of your efforts to get people to believe Dem leaders push stuff they didn't campaign on.
