History is fascinating on so many levels. In Greece you literally can not dig a hole without finding ancient artifacts.The discovery of Akrotiri on the island of Santorini unearthed writings with Linear A, giving us a better albeit incomplete understanding of the Cycladic and Minoan civilizations.

I don’t follow your definition of Ancient Greece. On the island of Crete where this majestic tree resides, they have discovered Mesolithic artifacts dating back to 9000 BC. The Minoan civilization dates back to roughly 3,100 BC with the first palace of Knossos being built around 1,900 BC.

No, Constantinople. The painting was completed in 1884 which was before Istanbul became the city’s official name in 1930. Constantinople was founded in 330 AD.
