Frustrated by inaction on the threat of cars on their street, the 1970s residents of Delft's Tuinstraat illicitly erected barriers to curb traffic.

This act of rebellion became a global revolution—inventing the woonerf (“living street”): a common space for recreation, vegetation, and socialization.

The fallout from the collapse of this glacier - a torrent of mud surging down the valley - killed hundreds of people. Gone, in a flash. Those people were wiped out by anthropogenic climate change. Our governments are simply not responding quickly enough to this disaster which is already upon us.
An incredibly well-timed Landsat 9 pass captured the effects of yesterday’s catastrophic glacier collapse near the Nepal–Tibet border. The event was so massive that it was detected by seismometers around the world.

Back when I was in Parliament I exposed the fact that ACC staff were receiving bonuses for stopping compensation for people with long term disabilities. MSD seems to now be taking this model further: punishing staff for housing people in need

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Taking a break from the sickening tragedy to focus on the beauty for a moment. Rob Reiner achieved something so rare and coveted that artists and entertainers dream of and rarely achieve: cultural permanence. How many times have you made a reference to something going to 11? Shouted "Inconceivable"?

What's interesting about the RNZ headline about the Seymour / UN conflict is the focus on UN conflict but not highlighting how the UN warned about the Regulatory Standards Bill.

RNZ has been shot after the $20m budget cut. Where is public interest journalism?

The only way David Seymour will be stopped is by putting him out of power in 2026. The media are spectacularly ill equipped to address his continued attempt to assert power he does not have, degrade civil society, and silence his opponents.
