The Kennedy Center is officially designated by an Act of Congress as the federal "living memorial" to President John F. Kennedy. It's a Federal Monument. Damaging federal monuments is a serious crime under 18 U.S.C. § 1361. Penalty: Up to 10 years in prison, plus fines and restitution.
