My softest and spiciest words
Your intuition is valid, and worth honoring. I'm so sorry people are this way. But there are so many of us who will speak and fight for your safety. We won't give up hope. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

But this season is teaching me that even when I rest, I continue to receive.

The universe wants to provide. Maybe I don't need to try so hard to earn it. 🖤

You're right, there are a million examples of loud "alpha male" types that only make the problem worse. But for men who do want to change, the way we collectively give so much attention to those voices is part of the issue. We all know what we DON'T want men to be. But what DO we want men to be?

What we need isn't to compare who is suffering more, or to be told to "be a man and grow up". We need men to come together to support each other, look ahead to where we want to go, learn to love ourselves in the truest ways we can, and do the work to get there together.

What we need isn't "other people are suffering more" or "stop being immature" -- we need men to come together to support each other, look ahead to where we want to go, and do the work to get there together.

There's so much more to it than that. Men don't have role models or social support for being vulnerable, soft, or affectionate without expectation -- especially with each other. These are key qualities to making meaningful connections. Doing this doesn't feel safe, or they simply don't know how.

To be clear, I think shining a light on toxic masculinity and its effects is a good thing. But we need to remember to look at where we want to go, not just try to get away from where we've been.

I wonder about this, too. When I think of "masculinity" today, I immediately think of the toxic aspects. That might not have happened ten or fifteen years ago, before we started talking about it the way we do now.

💯 And that goes double with generative AI here to suck the soul out of every creative medium. We need weird heartfelt human-made shit with meaning, and we need it immediately and forever.

Facts! We need more open discussion about healthy ways to engage with sex, not to hide it away and criminalize it. Doing so only allows bad actors to continue operating in the shadows.
