I'm Oliver, an 18-year-old animal rights activist.
I went vegan at 13 after watching Dominion. Two months later, I felt that just being vegan wasn't enough and I wanted to do more for animals.

Yesterday I was at a Pilgrim's Pride slaughterhouse, bearing witness to pigs experiencing their final moments. Pigs are slaughtered in CO₂ gas chambers at 6 months old. They thrash around, scream and desperately fight for their lives as they suffocate to death.

If kicking an animal is abuse, how is forcing animals into gas chambers, hanging them upside down, and cutting their throats not also abuse?

We often think about the cost of our food choices through how much we pay, but when it comes to meat and other animal products, the cost is far greater than what the price tag says. Buying these products costs animals their autonomy, freedom and ultimately, their lives.

Some people argue that there are ethical ways to farm animals. But no matter how "well" animals are treated on farms, they're still being exploited and reduced to a product. You can change the method as much as you want, but the injustice remains the same.
