I feel like after a couple of scenes of them living comfortably with bullet sounds in the background, you get the idea already. They kept leaning on that way too much.

Obviously it's harrowing and terrifying, and depicts a decent juxtaposition, but hammed up for way too long.

Also, Jonathan Glazer sure loves his symmetry shots, or his DoP does. I feel like he should collaborate with Wes Anderson.

Interestingly, I was expecting to find Hamnet boring, but it shocked me with its innovative and very meta performance of Hamlet near the end, that justified the steady build-up of the bulk of the movie. And the pay-off was emotionally intense.

I think my review criteria is unashamedly 'did it shock me or surprise me in some way with something I've not seen before' === I liked the movie

I get the film industry has a lot of depictions of this topic, and that we should be respectful towards each attempt.

It's just that I get annoyed when people keep encouraging me to watch movies that don't necessarily try something that hasn't been done before.
