Don’t complain about a book or movie causing you a feeling. Even an unpleasant one.
That’s what it’s supposed to do. If you don’t want to explore that feeling, it’s ok to disengage with that media.

Most powerful Sinners in Hell grow into their powers slowly, but Alastor got them all immediately upon his arrival due to his deal with Rosie.
There was a bit of a learning-curve for Al, but Rosie is a patient woman.

Writers, what do you think your personal strengths are? What do you look back at and say ‘yeah, I think I did that pretty well’, or what you get the most compliments on?

I’m glad they’re picking up on it but some people watch media like they think everyone involved was just throwing pencils at the ceiling randomly.
Story structure, themes, motifs, etc are deliberate choices with meaning. That’s what cohesion is.

my favorite kind of low comprehension fandom post is when the person is actually correct about what they’re observing but they’re like “hey guys is anyone else kind of feeling like [thing that is explicitly true in the story]? i have this crazy theory that [explicitly true thing] is the case”

The best and most meaningful growth of my life has almost always come from doing things that are at least a little uncomfortable or a little scary. I think this is true for relationships too. If you try your hardest to make nobody mad at you, you will end up trying to please bad people.
Discomfort is an essential part of growth and wouldn’t it be so embarrassing to be the exact same person thirty years from now, in a totally different world, because you were so averse to discomfort?
