Norton is also associated w/ another vehicle-warranty company, Veritas Global Protection Services. Veritas has drawn more than 250 Better Business Bureau complaints from consumers over a three-year period.

This isn’t his only grift. He moved on to leading a shady extended car warranty company called CarGuard. CarGuard benefited from leads generated through telemarketing campaigns that allegedly used automated “robocalls,” including calls to people on the federal Do Not Call list

Homesafe’s owner Derek Doherty pleaded guilty to mail fraud. He received a 15-month prison sentence and was ordered to pay $98,835 in restitution for conduct that occurred during Norton’s tenure as an executive at the company.

The company charged struggling homeowners nearly $3,000 for services including mortgage modification and loan-audit work. But less than 20% of clients actually got any help.
