I think they were first printed in the 1940's, so were not new even when I was a kid in the 50's. Sam was a naturalist/photographer/filmographer who lived with his wife Ginny on a small island in a lake in the Wisconsin wilderness in the summer, and made film and lecture tours in the winter.
