digital portrait of a person facing the viewer, with their arms spread out. above and just a bit behind them, a white and tawny owl with black eyes is flying with its wings spread out in a similar gesture. over the person's head, pointing straight down, is a dagger made of dark steel, with a wavy edge to its blade. it is suspended from four red ropes that are pulled taught and keep it in the middle of the web; two of the strands are visibly fraying. the person is a thin young adult, has light brown skin, dark brown eyes and dark brown slightly wavy hair. it is cut short on top and has a longer portion at the bottom that is braided and is resting over their left shoulder. their hair fades to a pale gray at the tips. they are dressed in a white qipao with red skirts peeking from between two slits in the front, a long-sleeved bolero made of white lace that mimics feathers, and a roomy white wrap-around coat. a cape made of grayish brown feathers is thrown over their shoulders. their outfit is decorated with red detailing, such as a wide belt made of intricately tied ropes, frog closures and tassels. attached at their belt is an hourglass and two gloves, one white and the other made of heavy brown leather. the background behind them is beige, with brighter pale blue bringing out the silhouettes.

It has been a lot of fun developing my “cave art” style. In the context of my story, the most common cave art does not depict eyes, as it is considered a taboo to include them. It is thought to bind the soul of the creature depicted and thus, cause their spirit to be angry.

🏛️ Government information belongs to everyone.

Government documents help us understand society, investigate the past, and participate in democracy. 📚

Democracy's Library brings government publications together so they're easier to discover.

Start with the record. 👇

Bottom left, bold black text repeating that line. Bottom right, "Tell us why government information is important to you," with a multicolor line drawing of a columned building.

As billionaires, the wealthy class and ai tech bros try to privatize knowledge and erase human curiosity, another form of resistance is to stay curious.

Do your own research. Do not be spoonfed your ideals or opinions. Use your library. Think for yourself.

It's very important that you do.

People keep sending me Coyote x Roadrunner fanart even though I’ve never expressed interest in these characters. I guess that’s just the vibe I give off lol

DRAGONFLIGHT (1978)

Acrylic on Masonite - 20" X 30"

For the 1st book in Anne McCaffrey's legendary Dragonriders of Pern series, I wanted to create a literal visualization of the title. I selected an aerial POV and tilted the horizon to simulate the dizzying sensation of flight. #art #booksky 🪐📚
A flight of dragons swoops past a rocky mountain peak down that mostly obscures the sun. The light tints green sky yellow along the ridge. With wings spread wide, the lead dragon pulls up from a dive with beak open to expose teeth and tongue. The arc of its climb intersects a red striated planet. The female dragonrider raises one arm up as she glances back over her shoulder.
