There should be a word for remembering something embarrassing you did fifteen years ago and immediately making the exact same facial expression you probably made fifteen years ago.

Your body apparently keeps the receipt.

IDENTITY was the first essay I published when I started Owl Lantern.

Today I joined Medium and stared at my archive wondering what should go there first.

I enjoy making complicated decisions because the answer was sitting at the very beginning. 😂

Playing a game you loved decades ago is weird because you’re never really replaying just the game.

You’re constantly bumping into the person you were the last time you played it.

Sometimes that person had terrible taste.

Unfortunately, sometimes he was absolutely right. 😂

I occasionally plant a sentence that looks completely harmless.

Then I leave it alone for months.

The reader moves on. Forgets about it. Has a nice life.

Meanwhile, I know exactly what that sentence is going to do when it comes back.

Writing is fun. 😏

Heard good things about Bluesky, so I wandered over.
