Turnstile is the real deal. A massive collective release on the banks of the Ohio River last night, one of the best shows I've ever seen and one of the best crowds I have ever been in.

I guess I appreciate the consistency with which Apple Music censors song titles, but I would argue it is unnecessary on this recording of the Duke Ellington Orchestra in Fargo, ND, 1940.

Here's a new one. I just bought a ticket to see Sugar as part of a venue promo and AXS gave me two options for delivery:
1) Will Call Pickup - $10
2) Will Call Pickup - FREE
And it defaulted to the first!

Had a blast with the last day of Post. Fest in Indy--Rolo Tomassi (!!!), The Armed, Kylesa, Minsk, Torche, Les Savy Fav, and more. I've been meaning to make it up for years and assuming it continues, I'll make it an annual journey almost regardless of lineup.

Had a lot of fun writing about last night's magnificent show in Cincinnati. Who knows what the coming months will bring, but this tour seemed like a potential mess three weeks ago and has turned into something to cherish.
Another show, another surprise new guitarist. Memphis jump blues player Jad Tariq, who plays with Charlie Musselwhite, joins the Bob Dylan band in Cincinnati, replacing Julian Lage who's off in Europe.

I, like Caleb, will see you at ELEPHANT.
Just got tickets to see this band in a couple months. One of my favorite jazz albums of the year so far.

A conspiracy theory theory for Bob's 85th: he actually had the manuscript of Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie at Town Hall on purpose

My 15th Dylan show last night, and easily in the top 3. What a wonder to watch this man work well into his 80s. I'm sad that the Rough and Rowdy era seems to be winding down, but grateful that I caught it in this configuration.

Pure power from Greg and Stephen in Columbus. Can't believe it's been 17 years since I got to hear and feel this, a singular experience.

Gillian and Dave's Acoustic Reckoning is a miracle. They conjured something over two nights in Nashville that I've never felt before. Dave himself: “'Oh yeah, it looks like the Dead when you get up close to it.' It’s much smaller and it’s different, but it’s lifelike" Mission accomplished. Go see it

Happy 75th Birthday to the great Bill Frisell. In an alternate world, he would be the warmest audiobook narrator in the business.

worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.
