In September, my S Wisconsin garden is looking a little tired and frayed. I have left the zinnias standing for the migrating monarch butterflies, hummingbirds, and foraging bees. The goldfinches will strip their seeds next. I will let that play out. #FlowerReport with my best and kindest regards.

#FlowerReport from S WI: lavender and white lisianthus with a couple little Profusion zinnias in a Bud vase. First time growing “lizzys;” the plants were greenhouse orphans when I saved them from the trash bin. The colors aren’t to my usual preference, but they are undeniably beautiful now!

Hi! I’m internally debating going out for a modest adventure, vs relaxing at home. Monday’s weather forecast promises cooler temperatures and less humidity, so I might postpone the country drive that I’m considering until then. My zinnia-snapdragon-whatever bouquets are in heavy rotation.

I feel like reds are always tricky to capture? I agree: the dark drama is one of the best features of this flower. Meanwhile, we’ve ditched the heat and tropical dew points; it’s been cool with a gentle soaking rain for 24 hours. It is very welcome; cats are enjoying open windows.

Your salpiglossis are like stained glass! I enjoy the updates. It looks like August and the following weeks will be the signet marigold’s time to shine in my garden. The plants are beautiful and the flower buds abundant; just now beginning to open.

S WI #FlowerReport: My front door garden is in full bloom right now. I’m glad I can admire it through my window: the heat and wildfire smoke makes being outdoors a challenge. Here’s hoping for improvement in that situation, and I realize many are more affected than I am. Best and kindest regards.

I feel you! We moved from our house to an apartment last year, and the opportunity to garden outside our front door was a big factor in choosing where to live. In July, things have hit their stride!
