Absolutely amazing.
The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

Right-size Scotus and declare their rulings void. Enforce the constitutional edict against insurrectionists holding office. Overturn all their work. Demolish their buildings. Money out of politics. Nazis out of government. Cancel all Musk contracts; seize his property for a global restitution fund.

House Republicans failed to muster the necessary votes to back a proposed constitutional amendment that would set membership of SCOTUS at nine, although they did remind everyone that the number of justices is not enshrined in the Constitution and can be amended at any time by statute.

So sure, USAID was a tool of US soft power and political influence, and also, I sometimes get the sense that people saying this don’t quite comprehend the torrent of death, horror, and pain that is currently unfolding from the genuinely evil decision to suddenly destroy it.

I keep banging the “USAID was good and we must confront the obscene wave of death MAGA’s destruction of it unleashed” drum because I *desperately* want Democrats and the Left to prioritize rebuilding global aid.

We should rebuild it better, but we can’t just let Musk’s global massacre continue.

Just a reminder that every ocean ship entering the Great Lakes goes through the Welland Canal. Eight locks, twenty-seven miles, all of it in Ontario.
That is the route. $26.3 billion of American trade depends on it.

Trump didn’t think this through.

I find it genuinely extremely concerning how few Democratic politicians have been willing to say that the Trump Administration's trade war with Canada is a betrayal of an extremely close ally
It drives me crazy to see so many Americans either downplaying or completely ignoring how absolutely dogshit our government and Trump have been treating Canada. We share the world’s longest land border with them, they buy more of our shit than any other country, they’re our number 2 trading partner—

"There are many, many more people now who understand how deeply unjust it is that [D.C. residents] don't have equal rights under the law. It's just not a way to run a democracy — to not let the people in the capital have equal rights."

In the midterms, Defend DC is fighting for statehood
Robert White, Free DC, and other partners are deploying residents to campaign for Democrats in key House races as part of a new political initiative.

NEW: @robertwhitedc.bsky.social has a vision: hundreds of D.C. residents on their way to nearby states to help elect candidates who will fight for D.C. autonomy.

Starting Labor Day weekend, he and other local leaders hope to turn that goal into reality, @samdelgado.bsky.social reports.

Trump's DOJ is revealing their hand. They know the National Guard's deployment in DC is illegal so they're going to try to intimidate DC Council to obey in advance instead.

DC leaders are sworn to serve the people here. Asking governors to withdraw their soldiers is absolutely within their right.
DOJ slams D.C. Council for calling for National Guard withdrawal
A Justice Department official accused council members of “ignorance” and “impotent theatrics” over their request for governors to remove their troops from D.C.

THIS THIS THIS.

For a very long time I was dependent on my husband's benefits after becoming ill. Then he died. Now I'm just trying to keep my head above water AND my health halfway ok.

This is a farce and cruelty.
I cannot emphasized this enough.

We need to break benefits from employment. That should never have been part of the equation and is a baked in negative consequence of prior policy change that is unique to our history.
Hot take: fundamentally the employee/contractor distinction should be much less important because we should not be using companies as a benefit delivery mechanism for their employees
