OTD in Canadian Hockey History Sept 15, 1976 and 50 years ago the first truly best on best tournament ended with Canada defeating Czechoslovakia 5-4 in overtime to win the first Canada Cup. Maple Leafs captain Darryl Sittler scored the game winner at 11:33 of OT

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sept 13, 1992 and a rare off game for Matt Dunigan. He completed just 6 passes for 52 yds before Sammy Garza replaced him in 3rd Qtr. Tied at 16 Garza led Bombers to 3 touchdowns, 2 by FB Warren Hudson, in 4th Qtr and 37-16 win v Roughriders

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sept 11, 1988 and RB Tim Jessie makes his CFL debut after his release from Super Bowl champion Washington. While not scoring a TD Jessie was a big factor in Bombers 34-8 win over BC Lions as Jessie carried the ball 23 times for 106 yds.

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sept 10, 1989. Sean Salisbury sets new team record for passing yds with 454 v Lions. By 4 yds that bested mark set by Don Jonas and matched by Dieter Brock. Salisbury completed 24 passes, one to LB Greg Battle, and BTW also tossed 6TDs in 53-34 win

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sept 8, 1991 and Rod Hill sets a new club record for career interceptions. Against the Roughriders Hill picks off Kent Austin for his 35th Blue Bomber interception moving his past the mark set by Norm Rauhaus. Hill finished his Bomber career with 47.

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sept. 4, 1978 in a Classic v the Roughriders, that was actually played on Labour Day Monday, RB Richard Crump dominates. Crump scored 2 TDs, had over a hundred yards both rushing and receiving including a Bomber record run of 103 yards in 31-29 victory

OTD in Blue Bombers History Sep 1, 1985 a Labour Day Classic that Bob Cameron will never forget. The CFHoF punter was instrumental in Bombers 18-10 win over Saskatchewan averaging over 55 yds on 9 punts. One travelled 95 yds - the longest punt of Cameron’s 23 year CFL career.

Ken Ploen could do it all. Besides quarterbacking Bombers to 3 Grey Cups he was a darn good DB and receiver. OTD in Blue Bombers History Aug 23, 1962 Ploen hands ball to Leo Lewis who throws it back to #11. Ploen takes it 47 yards for a touchdown as Bombers beat the Argos 33-13

Merv Walker’s pick still stands as Bombers club record for longest interception return. In 1997 in another game v the Roughriders Jocelyn Borgella also had a 112 yard interception return. Borgella’s pick was on a Riders 2-point convert attempt as the Bombers beat Saskatchewan 43-12

OTD in Blue Bombers History Aug 4, 1984 and Matt Dunigan lights it up. Now in his 12th CFL season Dunigan was winless in Toronto as the opposing QB in 8 tries. That ended this night as Dunigan passed for 421 yards and five touchdowns in Bombers 54-34 victory v the Argos.

20 years ago OTD in Blue Bombers History July 20, 2006. Bombers are down by 3 to Eskimos with the ball on their own 10 yd line and time for one last play. Kevin Glenn and Milt Stegall play pitch and catch as Stegall scores a 100 yd touchdown to give the Bombers a 25-22 victory.
