Yesterday we officially hit our goal of 1,500 signatures, but we're not done yet! We have 4 more weeks of petition collecting, and we're going to keep knocking doors all the way until the election in February.

This was ways going to happen - the Alders thought they'd be unaccountable for the gimmicks they passed in their budget. Now that the praise for passing a historic, independent budget is over, it's the Mayor's budget again.

I talked to Lush about this too, and it was clear they felt singled out by the city- going so far as to say they'd gladly pay a license fee to make it legal. I was surprised to see that the alderman's sole response seemed to be to an unhelpful "reminder" in his newsletter after.

Do the voters clamour for a return to Madigan-Burke-Daley tied politicians with a long history of throwing red meat to conservatives in between cutesy videos about balanced budgets? I'm not so sure, but good on Susana Mendoza for finally making it official that she's trying again

Be sure to pay attention to the alders who voted no on banning Chicago police officers from actively participating in extremist and anti-government groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. I'm disappointed as always to see my alderman, Scott Waguespack, among them.
