Colored up an illustration for a music video I did with the band Earthphish back in 2020. The music is up on YouTube, you can see it and more of the illos on my website

The tune also featured the legendary dub producer Lee “Scratch” Perry. What is my life???

From last night’s livestream hanging with the brilliant David Blumenstein keeping me company. I shared with him thé news of my impending grandadship (WTF,I KNOW I DON’T LOOK THAT OLD) and the conversation moved to bedtime stories.

Oh, I’m colouring à page of Malcolm X too:)

“Nothing could be more interesting to me that someone decided to create a term called ‘toxic positivity’ and try to weaponise it against people.”
—Gary Vee

We can’t get anything done, especially in art, without a pocket full of maybe’s and a good yes or two.

Try stuff. Assess. Go again.

Agreed. Action creates motivation, builds confidence, kills learned helplessness and it is freeing. Action and reflection can change perspective. My observation was that we can own and regulate our inner state through both, and that’s the work of a lifetime.

Wasn’t that Funkadelic?

“Never draw anything you can copy, never copy anything you can trace, never trace anything you can cut out and paste up.”
— Wally Wood

When I’m drawing conversation, connection between characters is important. This is not as obvious an insight as you may think. Artists can fall into the trap of being obsessed with exciting staging more than the feeling between human beings in the scene.

I'm stunned. An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States: A Graphic Interpretation just won another award! Big shout-out to the fine folks at @beaconpress.bsky.social and Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, the author of the original prose.
Gee whizz, this is crazy!

This is a Superman movie that did what I want a Superman movie to do: advance the idea of kindness as the superpower.

I’ll say more in the next INKSKULL, but suffice it to say, I was entertained. Highly recommended.
