Many of the tools to protect nature already exist. Needed now is strong leadership to expand these glimmers of hope into large-scale strategies adopted worldwide—before ecological & economic losses reach a point that no amount of financing can reverse. www.paulsoninstitute.org/conservation...

Growth remains insufficient compared to flows driving nature loss.

The challenge isn't lack of financing mechanisms, but failure to integrate nature into economic decisions, reform harmful incentives, & create the enabling conditions needed to scale proven approaches and attract capital to nature.

What is required now is strong leadership to expand these glimmers of hope into large-scale strategies adopted around the world—before ecological and economic losses reach a point that no amount of financing can reverse, writes Hank Paulson: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Worse, climate financing is often poorly aligned with biodiversity goals, which can cause climate investments to inadvertently undercut nature conservation. This is a misallocation of capital, because you cannot solve climate change problems without investing in nature. youtu.be/bEC9qhoOUO0?...
