You can convince people that Harris and Clinton are lesser evils than Trump, but under the American system you still have to convince them that those candidates are worth spending the time to vote *for*. That's where they failed.

It's actually a real shame Canada can't say yes. Parliamentary democracies like Canada, including the UK and Australia, are very good at quickly flushing away terrible leaders. Someone like Trump wouldn't have lasted a year in any of these countries.
