In the past the idea wasn't you needed a college education to work, but if you did go to college it was to "expand your abilities" not solely for 1 job. Costs varied but there were reasonable options.

But the athletes are, indeed, *worth way more* than they are paid! The billionaires impose those salary caps, get anti-trust exemptions, and share revenue to limit their downside risk. (The world's most virulent capitalists suddenly get reeeeal socialist when it only benefits them.)
