I moved house a couple months ago, and finally got the chance to re-display my prewar Lionel set, including the freight cars which haven’t been out in at least a decade.

This setup makes so much sense from a storytelling perspective. There’s two boards in the pilot; perhaps the intent was to give Thomas an additional bit of motive… “why is it that I can pass the first board but not the second one?”
