I like dogs, westerns, and film noir. Autistic. Chronic pain has ruined my life but gives me more time to watch movies, so shrug. Autistic daughter and incredibly proud of her.
HALLOWEEN 2 - The babysitter had it on.
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Followed up CLOUD ATLAS (5 stars) with the great new retrospective about it. But the real surprise this week was THE PRICE OF FEAR. Can't believe I hadn't heard about this noir gem.

EVIL DEAD BURN - Dramatic pauses are one of the greatest plagues of modern filmmaking.
There's a good core idea about domestic violence at the heart of this film, but it's undercooked.

What's your "origin" video game?
Target Fun (aka Air-Sea Battle) on the Atari 2600 was my first game at age 3. It's one of my earliest memories, and it set me on a game path for life.

My kid drew #ShaunTheSheep and Lula in a disco elevator. I think this is a great invention and would ride in it anytime.

ALL MY SONS (1948) hits hard for people like me, who are Fox News orphans. We lost our parents, and the only way we can truly accept them back is for them to acknowledge the damage that they've done. And most of them aren't capable of this.

I was living in Tokyo during 9/11, so that was a weird experience, but ultimately good because I didn't have to endure the Freedom Fries, Islamophobia, and shit like that.

LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL is one of the best westerns out there that's not talked about nearly enough. Kirk Douglas is a marshal whose wife is raped and killed. Anthony Quinn is a powerful rancher whose son did it. Directed by John Sturges.
