Regarding Cornell and media discussions and discussion of higher education, generally: stop calling them boys (and girls) and kids. These are adults. Their parents can refer to them, however they want. We should refer to them as adults.

The meaning of a phrase like “she loves god” is different than she loves Frank or she loves people. It is closer to “she loves dragons.” But even there it’s incomplete because if you told me that you loved dragons, I would not assume that you believe that dragons are real.

I don’t love Gemini is right about the dates or the “reasons“ for the “practicality,” but if you are looking for a decade when we lost our fucking minds, the 80s seems a good candidate and the larding up of cars ad especially trucks with more doors than the number of people who drive

So glad my university paid to have shaq dj a quad party before a game against Middle Tennessee State University instead of paying faculty competitive salaries or fixing its collapsing infrastructure

I love the idea that what makes a great film is the film itself. It’s hilarious nonsense.

“asking a photographer what kind of camera he uses is like asking a chef what kind of oven they use.”
Yes, you can use cinema film for everyday photos. But should you? We shot nine rolls to find out. If you're interested in a film Odyssey of your own, read Wirecutter's full review: nyti.ms/4A2oaix

One problem with the loneliness, epidemic is essentially semantic:

What does it mean to be lonely/how do we know if someone is lonely? assuming we are not talking about an objective measure like: are you alone or how many people do you see or talk to on a daily basis, what we are measuring is:

It is a war crime that there is no season 2:
i remember a few years ago when this premiered & being both taken aback but unsurprised how many people only first learned about the Black wall street massacre (then learning rosewood, lake lanier, etc) are real things that happened in this country within the last century

I think technically every undergraduate major is “pre-law” and also “pre-med,” It’s just that very, very few of us ever go to law or medical school.

It’s kind of fun to imagine that there are people out there who say that they voted for someone to do a particular thing or a particular range of things who will now make excuses for why those things aren’t done or say that they were done when they were not.

If I ever become an academic administrator one of my early sets of meetings will have the headline: faculty, tell us about your current research. Everyone should know something about what everyone else is doing. And it repeats on some cycle.

The only tofu content you need is: freeze it, thaw it, cook it with anything and it is excellent. Any foodie nonsense beyond that is maybe not insane but worth ignoring.
OMFG stop trying to make tofu taste like meat it will never taste like meat learn something about South east Asian cuisine and how to cook tofu properly what the fuck why does so much vegan cooking content drive me insane with this shit?!?
