A recent weekend away in Southampton, Winchester and then London. With Tim, Gina and Jon in each location respectively.

Great to see As You Like It last night by Illyria Theatre at Insole Court. It has been an absolute age since I last saw a production (and many more since I had the smallest role in one).

All the cast were electric but special mention to Julian Brett, whose joyous performance stole the show!

Attending the Lord Mayor's Garden Party in the Castle a few Sunday's ago and hearing about the great work City Hospice is doing from their Chief Executive, Dr Liz Booyse, was an absolute pleasure.

Over £5,000 was raised, clearly a result of everyone pitching in and I can't wait for the next event!

On Thursday I presented a petition on behalf of a resident who is concerned about the antisocial behaviour on the Taff trail.

I am expecting the Cabinet Members response to the petition in due course.

I was at Mark's Thank You fundraiser last night, a good evening with good company.

Many people in attendance had been positively affected by Mark over the years and, as Mark made clear, he intends for this not to be the end of his political involvement but another step on the continuing road.

A very Llandaf Festival morning with the inimitable historian and archivist Morgan Haigh before a tour of the tower with the knowledgeable bell ringers.

The outstanding view of Cardiff was just the final cherry on top of two wonderful (and educational) tours.

Lisa Nandy is right, X 'favours abuse and misinformation over meaningful debate.'

At the last Full Council meeting I continued to put pressure on the Council, I do not believe we should remain on it.

Great to be at Llandaff Cathedral tonight for Have I Got Pews for You hosted by Vix Leyton.

Good set of comedians so far and we're only just at the break, what a fun way to kick off Llandaff Festival.

Our infrastructure is not prepared for the climate emergency.

The Climate Change Committee's report 'A Well-Adapted UK' makes that clear and at Thursday I wanted to know what we are doing to get ready, because the next heatwave will certainly not wait for us.

Set up and ready for my regular monthly surgery at midday on the last Saturday of each month (excluding December).

Today I'm in Llandaff at the Parish Hall, all ward residents welcome!

Tonight I asked about Council guidance to Cardiff schools during the red weather warnings.

Asked at the hottest Council Chamber I've ever been in, never a more appropriate time and place to ask about the climate emergency.

On Tuesday evening I went to a phenomenal (and not just because St Dogmaels was mentioned) talk, The History of Mermaids, Sea Spirits and Women at @gleeclubcardiff.bsky.social by Professor Diane Purkiss.

Last Tuesday we had GLL, who run a lot of the Cardiff Leisure Centres, in front of us.

The work of scrutiny often isn't snappy soundbites but detailed work over a long period to establish that the best possible deal is being done for our residents.

Twice in one week, and it's a lovely sunny day again? Yes, I'm back at Insole Court this evening for our regular Llandaff Labour Branch meeting.
June 18, 2026 at 5:29 PM
Yesterday I went to the lovely local Insole Court for the first ever Cardiff Coffee Festival.

I couldn't think of a better reason (as if I needed one) to try some delicious coffee and enjoy the sun while also supporting a core pillar of the Llandaff ward.

Great to be joined by Senedd Member Huw Thomas at a Strawberries and Cream Tea Fundraiser for Christian Aid at St John's Church Hall.

Over 600 pounds raised by the local community for a good cause.

A recurring bright point in my calendar is @rwcmd.bsky.social New writing series.

It's always top-notch acting combined with intriguing and deeply emotive writing. This time around I saw all the shows and Feral Threads was my absolute favourite.

What a wonderful gem in Cardiff's yearly calendar.

On Saturday I both held my regular Councillor Surgery and, beforehand, I did a walkaround with fellow Labour member David, knocking on doors and picking up issues directly from residents.

Blocked drains reported, potholes flagged to be filled, sloped pathways raised. A very productive two sessions.
June 2, 2026 at 4:05 PM
Earlier this year I raised an issue at full Council that residents regularly talk to me about, potholes!

The then Cabinet Member Norma Mackie spoke clearly about the work done so far and the plans for the future. I'm keen to see this new machine in action soon.

On Tuesday the Economy and Culture Scrutiny Committee received an update on the Recommendations from our Filming Inquiry.

It's promising that changes have been made but this progress needs keep going, so Cardiff is not only visually present in films & shows but fundamentally benefits from it.
