There are graphs
4 frame comic. a street journalist asks someone with a light blue dress and a large purse : miss! do you think gender transition should be illegal for kids, given how patients are rushed into treatments and how the vast majority ends up detransitioning? she replies, pulling a bunch of papers from her purse that she hands to the journalist: I'm glad you asked! yet another new massive study* just found that out of 445 kids who were referred to four different gender clinics for gender dysphoria, only 2.9% didn't identify as trans or non-binary five years later. there are graphs! a note below the frame gives the reference for the study : Metzger & al. stability of transgender identity in adolescents seen in multidisciplinary specialized gender centers. journal of adolescent health. august 2026. she continues : then out of the 353 who started hormones (after an average wait time of 2.4 years), only 1.1% had stopped the treat- ment five years later, which is incredibly few. I hope that info helps you! but miss, do you think gender transition should be illegal for kids, given how this study seems to suggest that it is so addictive that kids who were transed might feel trapped to keep identifying as trans? she replies, looking tired : stop making sh*t up.

Fun and nostalgia
4 frame comic. in the first frame, there's a eery Tim Hortons facade under stormy clouds. in the subsequent three frames, we see several donuts and drinks in the colours of Harry Potter. The text reads: as one of the largest annual pride festivals in the world kicks off in montreal, tim hortons, iconic canadian coffee and donut shops chain, just announced the upcoming launch of a new harry potter themed menu. many lgbt+ orgs have since called for a boycott, considering how harry potter's author, who is known for her holocaust denialism and her anti-human rights stances, has been using her wealth to erase trans people from public life. in a statement, tim hortons said that "the promotion was intended to bring a sense of fun and nostalgia to customers rather than make a political statement." while anti-lgbt+ hate is on the rise, deciding to funnel more money to one of the biggest opponents to equality and diversity on the planet is nothing but a political statement.

A ''new thing''.
4 frame strip. An older man tells Stephie: kids being trans is a new thing! We didn;t have that 30 years ago. Theyre only doing it to be trendy, that;s why there;s an 80% desistance rate. Stephie puts her hand next to her face and goes : psst. That 80% rate comes from disgraces homophobic doctor K Zucker's book about his unethical treatments of trans and gender non-conforming kids, ''gender identity disorder and psychosexual problems in children and adolescents.'' it came out 30 years ago.

It's already the non-permanent solution.
four frame comic. An older man says to Stephie : Kids shouldn't make permanent decisions about their bodies. we must ban puberty blockers! She replies, through three panels : puberty blockers are meant to be non-permanent. They are used as a compromise because people won't trust trans teens to start hormones at the same time as their non-trans peers. Banning access to blockers not only takes that pause away from trans people, it forces them to watch their body change in a direction that we know will cause them pain and distress. It's pure cruelty. The only thing that is a permanent decision here is forcing trans teens to go through a puberty they don't wwant and might regret for the rest of their life. the man looks horrified.

4 frame comic. an adult in a brown sweater tells Stephie : you're calling people transphobic to silence them! She replies, over three frames : It's funny you say that because in my experience, literally no transphobe in existence has-- EVER -- shut up.

Ok but what if it's a phase?
poster of the comic character Stephie in a black dress walking. She says : waiting until a person expresses unbearable pain or intense suffering before letting them transition isn't "just making sure"... it's torture.

It was never not our turn.
4 frame comic. An older man says to Stephie, in a yellow shirt : yeah, it's worrying what they're doing to trans people. It's like what they were doing to gay people in the eighties. Seems like it's your turn! Stephie replies, over the following three panel: w... we have been here the whole time, Harold. Do you think that the eighties' queerphobes saw trans people and were like ''nah, these people are fine''? do you think nazis who were ordered to round up queer men saw trans women and thought ''not them, trans women are women uwu''? people only think that transphobia is a new thing because it was so prevalent that they couldn't see our humanity. but it was never not our turn, Harold.

I'd be upset.
4 frame comic. Alice and Linda, two coworkers, are chatting while having coffee. Linda says : I'd be upset if I learned that my child is trans at school without my knowledge. Alice replies: oh, same. I'd be upset that I failed to foster a relationship with my child in which they feel safe to be who they are. I'd be upset that I failed in my obligation as a parent to provide an environment in which my child can thrive and blossom. Linda says : I mean that it's my parental right to know! Alice says : WTF Linda? Children aren't their parents' properties.

Agree to disagree
4 frame comic. A guy with a neckbeard says to Sophie, the author: we shouldn't allow kids to be trans because 80% end up detransitioning. She replies: that number is from Kenneth Zucker's study from 30 years ago, in which he claimed to have ''curedää some gender non+conforming kids of gender dysphoria with ''reparative therapy'' - a form of torture. Half of them never even expressed gender dysphoria! The researcher's clinic was eventually shut down after he was revealed as a fraud, and his methods recognized as inhumane and unethical. His results were never reproduced. Actual, recent studies consistently estimate detransition rates to be between 1 and 2%. The man replies : OK well I got my studies, you got yours. agree to disagree.

Who would want to date a transphobe anyway?

She has been a tireless advocate for trans rights and an inspiration for trans leaders everywhere. She was a legend, an icon and a trailblazer. She will be thoroughly missed.

oh but it does
4 frame comic. a different adult is saying something in each frame, and Stephie replies to each of them. The first says : I just don't want my children to learn about trans people. it doesn't make a transphobe. Stephie replies : actually, it does! the second says : men cannot be women. it's simple biology. saying this doesn't mean I'm a transphobe. Stephie says : oh, but it does! the third says : I'm fine with trans people, but I don't think kids should be allowed to transition. does that make me the villain? Stephie says : it most certainly does! The last one says : trans people shouldn't be allowed to teach children. it's just common sense. that doesn't make me a tran- Stephie, up close, interrupts him: guess what!!

4 frame comic. Stephie is sitting on a couch, looking at her phone. she thinks to herself : alright, the baby is sleeping, my friend is gone, nothing is happening on the internet... this is so calm. so peaceful. Time for some drama. In the last frame, we see her typing into her phone : if you think trans kids are too young to know their gender, then put all kids on puberty blockers

Frank : that's a girl's umbrella. Stephie : well that's perfect, since it's girl's rain. Frank : that's not a thing. rain doesn't have a gender. Stephie : neither do umbrellas. Frank looks at Stephie suspiciously. Stephie : ooooh! objects don't have a gender. mind = blown! Frank: I'll... I'll take the umbrella.

Naturally and healthily.
four frame comic. first frame shows someone with a ''adult human female'' shirt saying, panicking : we need to act to ban trans care and make sure that children develop naturally and healthily! second frame shows Stephie eating a burger, saying : so you're gonna do something against ultra-processed foods and additives? against rampant child malnutrition? third frame shows her lying on the ice with a hockey outfit. she says : will you ban ballet classes, since they alter children's muscles and limbs forever? or contact sports, like hockey or football, for giving them lifelong head traumas and concussions? fourth frame shows her staring at the camera and says: or is hunting down a handful of trans kids who just want to live their life as themselves and participate in society more urgent than all this?

poster of the character from Assigned Male comics Stephie, with her arms crossed, who says : The longest and most extensive study on the matter (pagefoot note : the Lancet Journal of child and adolescent health, oct. 20th 2022) recently found that out of 720 trans teenagers who started hormone therapy half a decade ago, 98% were still continuing their treatment today. Desistance and detransition myths are lies designed to create a moral panic and a transphobic backlash. believe trans youth.

Facts.
Four frame comics. Every frame shows a crowd holding rainbow and trans flags, and features one sign. In the first, it reads : If you aren't willing to accept a trans or queer child, don't have kids. In the second : HRT is older than : Viagra, Lasik, heart transplant. Stop calling it "experimental." The third : More people regret getting a Harry Potter tattoo than gender-affirming care. The fourth : If gender is biological, why does it need a police state to enforce it?

Being cis
drawing of Frank, a character from Sophie Labelle's comics, who says : being cisgender (or cis) simply means that you are the gender you were assigned at birth. it isn't an insult and it doesn't make your gender more valid or more natural than being trans.

Meet Dr James Barry.
4 frame comic, depicting James Barry, hands being washed, a fireplace and a surgeon with gloves on. Text reads : whenever you wash your hands, you owe the habit to an irish trans man, dr James Barry, who was born at the end of the 18th century and led an extraordinary life until his death in 1865. he transitioned as a teenager and after his studies, became a surgeon in the british army. he pioneered modern medicine by implementing stricter hygiene practices. He was also the first european doctor to perform a successful c-section. even though he became a famous and celebrated surgeon, his existence was scrubbed from the records when it was found that he was trans, after his death. Today, we honor his important but complex legacy as a proud and colorful trans man working for a colonial power. his life defied odds and made a lasting impact on the world.

It's not a thing.
4 frame comic, in which an off-frame street journalist asks a man with a handlebar mustache waiting for the subway : "sir! what do you think it says about transgender issues that a pro-trans state such as Iran forces gay people to undergo sex change surgeries to make homosexuality disappear?" the man replies, over three frames : "forces sterilisation is something trans people have been fighting against for decades. Iran is absolutely not a good place to be trans. Trans iranians have no rights, are discriminated against and ostracized. Trans kids face electroshock therapy. (note: a 2021 study by healthcare for women international found that 70% of Iranian trans women have been victims of physical violence.). Sure, there's a narrow, legal pathway to have your gender recognized (unless you're non-binary), but the surgery you're being forced into won't be performed by an expert. Trans people who can't or don't want surgery remain subject to anti-sodomy and anti-crossdressing laws. Iranian authorities don't want more trans people. Recent studies contest the myth that cis gay Iranians are being forced to transition, and found that western media are widely misrepresenting the legal loophole of having a cis gay person transition (in order to live with their partner openly) as de facto forced transition for all of them. It's not a thing. (note : Ardebili, M Eftekhar 2918: Tramnsgenderism in Iran. Saeidzadeh, zara 2019: Understanding socio-legal complexities of sexe change in postrevolutionary Iran)."
