This is the way
I have been going to gigs for over 30 years, but for some reason I will avoid wearing the t shirt of a band that are on the bill. I don't know why this is, but it's always been the case. I know this isn't the most exciting confession, but it is true.

My grandmother told me years ago that "it wasn't the real Tarr Steps". It had been washed away years ago and rebuilt. This must have happened many times in the preceding 3000 years www.itv.com/news/westcou...

Meanwhile in Germany 🇩🇪: Emergency services rescue a man who was trying to rob electrical appliances from a recycling bin. Bonus content: Police found he had an outstanding arrest warrant, and whatever the German for “You’re nicked, Sonny Jim” is, that.

Apparently I am more qualified to talk about this than the BBC cyber correspondent
Maybe the BBC should get someone who actually knows what he is talking about then.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...
The Man Who Saved the Internet Yesterday
Ondřej Surý was a relatively anonymous volunteer working on PHP security. Then the internet exploded.

I have heard from an old colleague that my former company is finally having to pay for AI usage and it is £6K a month. I think the free lunch is coming to an end.

I have somehow ended up in a list for posting AI slop. If I did it certainly wasn't intentional. This came into my feed earlier and it is actually hilarious that anyone would take this seriously. As I am already on the naughty list I guess I can post it www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg-h...

I think it was Walking on the Moon by the Police with the immortal lyric "I hope my leg don't break"
First single you bought with your own money. No lying!

Mine: "Red Box - Lean on Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)", 1985. Still know every word.

Why do people go to gigs and talk all the way through? I just told someone to keep it down and was told to get over myself. Surely it would be cheaper and easier to go to the pub.

Seriously. This is a big part of the problem. The BBC "both sides"ing absolutely everything. Even stuff like this which is about what our security services know about election interference. It *does not* require any Tufton Street response. At all.
Why on earth does this BBC piece on Burnham telling an interviewer the UK security services confirmed Russian interference in the Brexit referendum require a response from a pro Brexit pressure group? It's literally our Prime Minister telling us about election security. It's nothing to do with them.

In the 1985 Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Varos, an authoritarian regime run by a weak man keeps the downtrodden population in line by broadcasting public executions to distract from the fact that it has tanked the economy through a combination of incompetence, arrogance and institutional cruelty.
