Long long run today of nearly 23 miles and a tale of two halves.
Nearly bailed before my checkpoint (aka husband) as my brain wasn’t in the game. But revised my strategy and went for it on the second half.
Now feeling more confident about doing the 50k I have my eye on.

This morning’s run was lit by the harvest moon with help from my new light vest - loving the chest light.
Great pace until my stomach said no more 😒
No photos sadly - the estuary was ethereal in the moonlight.
And sorry to the flock of geese I woke up who then absolutely freaked.

Been struggling to ignore the good vibes and dial it down to the planned effort lately. So, this morning was 20 minutes on the treadmill to one of those fitness videos.
I normally go off perceived effort rather than heart rate & zones but… maybe I took it a bit too easy?! 🤷♀️

Had a niggly knee after Saturday’s long run so took a couple of extra days of rest. Intended to go slow n steady but set a PB instead. Adrenaline is a powerful drug!
Love twilight running. Less keen on the niggly knee which is now protesting this evening’s effort.

18 miles yesterday with a sheep rescue, cow dodging, a halfway brunch stop and then navigating Essex’s answer to the surface of the moon (freshly ploughed field) before a delightful wooded bridleway.
Lazy day today giving the cats their rightful attention.

Came home & knew from my husband’s face that little Noah had been found. Devastated for the family. My thoughts also go to the team that found him & the whole SAR community.
Proud that despite those that would seek to divide, this is still a country where an entire community turns out when needed

Happy fast run Tuesday! (to me)
Cracked out a 5k PB, then knocked 10% off my hill sprint time.
Also felt like I was going to twist an ankle on the bobbly trail I found and throw up at the top of the hill. Definitely not all glamour.

Today’s run was delightfully damp after a whole day of rain. In places the ground was positively bouncy!
I’m sure I’ll be complaining in a couple of months but today I was grateful not to be on ground baked harder than concrete.
7.5 miles with last 1.5 intentionally in the dark.

At least four neighbours also went outside to verify - slightly strange being stood in the garden at nearly midnight all in your PJs. And one of our cats is hanging her head out the window trying to catch a few drops - she doesn’t even like rain

Deeming the ‘cause’ to be something that doesn’t apply to you, therefore the tragedy won’t happen to you.

One of the cats is missing and her sister has become super clingy. Having a cat constantly touching you for reassurance in this heatwave is heartbreakingly hot.
