it seems to me that what AI Doomers are truly concerned with, in essence, is how untrustworthy some elite humans are and how they will exploit AI tools to increase their margins+leverage and then distance themselves from accountability by blaming the "AI" for foreseeable gross negligence and torts

and in many non trivial ways, LLMs can actually bolster a liberal arts education (in the research phase) as they can support students to quickly investigate and weave related disciplines with depth and complexity more quickly as LLMs are strong tools for bridging related concepts

Agreed, but this bend shows a deepening respect for the impact these powerful new AI tools are having... Professors should not allow access to smartphones during exams to train this next generation to hone their free writing skills as these skills will become weaker w/ too much dependency on AI
