You don't need X870E for a 9800X3D. B850 and B650E boards at ~$250 are fine — memory support and BIOS flashback matter more than VRM specs:

Half the $2,000 goes to the GPU. A 7800X3D + RTX 5080 near its $999 reference price does 100+ FPS at 1440p Ultra and real 4K with DLSS 4.

Streaming PS5 or Switch? The AVerMedia GC571 does 4K60 HDR passthrough plus a clean 1080p60 feed. Single-PC streamers just need NVENC.

Custom wins for most buyers: $150-$500 cheaper at the same specs, better parts, easier to upgrade. Prebuilt wins under ~$700 or on warranty.

Building a mid-range 1440p rig runs $250-$500 under a comparable prebuilt — you skip the assembly markup. Prebuilts win at the very low end.

$1,500 done right: a Ryzen 7 7800X3D + RTX 5070 (or RX 9070 XT) maxes 1440p and holds solid 4K. The X3D chip is why it beats its price.
