My hope for kids turning 18 this year, who were born when Obama was elected: they'll vote in record numbers, get the delish democratic socialist safety net they deserve. Live most of their prime knowing Barack as a cool elder statesman. And the evil one will fade into memory by the time they're 40.

In quiet moments I remember that we are living through an expression of the popular will. The skeezy immorality, mindless cruelty, and ceaseless criminal grift were all visible and DESIRED. People wanted this because the idea of a brown woman in the Oval enraged and scared them shitless.

When I was young in Summer 2001, the news cycles were SO dull that Capitol intern Chandra Levy's disappearance was EVERYTHING. It destroyed Congressman Condit's career. Then September came around; we've never been the same country since. Today's headlines would've made my head spin. #GenX

A President who shares music track lists, book lists, movie lists, is good people. 1/3 of the country showed their disdain for this kind of exemplary human less than two years ago and we may not recover for a generation.

The #AmericanExperiment, 5-part Netflix documentary about our nation's founding, is an impressive production. I could stomach Mike Pence, because of his historical role on Jan 6. However, listening to Ted Cruz pontificate on Revolutionary ideals made me ill. It ruined the series.

250 won't come around again. I certainly won't live to see 300. So, with joy and determination I remember the imperfect framers of the 18th century, their genius and sacrifice, every generation in between, and will vow to do my part in pulling a sickened republic out of its present state. 🇺🇸
