I went back and reread smogon to understand what I was remembering. I played competitive in Gen 6 and 7. Weavile was still awesome ofc but Stealth Rock and the popularity of the Tapu Fairies made it feel really bad. :/

Yeah the physical/special split really screwed Sneasel over and I never understood why Gamefreak didn't correct it. Maybe it would be too strong? Weavile did have some time in the OU and even Ubers metagame

Super heroes and Fascism have a long history. Essentially, the idea is that comic books make a class of people who have agency (the super heroes) while also making a group that has no agency (regular people). In real life, there isn't a hero to save us, yet we still hold out for 1 person to save us
