Here's what happened this week in North Carolina politics. [September 18, 2026]

Postscript: after this video was finished, the Wake County District Attorney announced they're settling with 3 of the 4 special interest lobbyists who worked with Greater Carolina to cozy up to Republican NC lawmakers.

Gastonia, where Trump is speaking tonight, had the highest murder rate in the nation for part of the early 80s.

That’s not an important data point in this Senate race. But he obviously doesn’t know or care about crime data.

Partisan gerrymandering doesn't just rob North Carolinians of their political representation. It also fosters dysfunction and widespread political corruption - which is exactly what we see today in the North Carolina state legislature.

I don’t understand why Collins asked Vance to take care of the widow instead of asking him to respond to the fact that this unsanctioned war is leaving widows w/o traditional veterans’ benefits.

Political corruption is rampant in North Carolina's state legislature, and it makes a lot of people feel hopeless. If that's you, hey - that's totally understandable.

But you should know that there ARE good people working in our state's politics. But more of them need to speak up.

This is a fascist bill.
Stein to Veto Bill Allowing Chief Justice to Suspend Judges Without Pay

GOP lawmakers say the bill improves judicial accountability, but Democrats say it would embolden Republican Paul Newby to target judges with opposing viewpoints.

I dunno how this will go. I think Collins is extremely vulnerable. But nothing has changed in Maine wrt abortion which is when shit actually hits the fan.

But absolutely support putting justices in political ads. Wish it weren’t so

The discourse around the Supreme Court term would be much improved, I think, if people focused on the center of the Court as being very much part of the GOP coalition, rather than focusing entirely on whether it is or is not doing Trump’s bidding specifically.

Most people - almost 80%, in fact - don't. That's why we created a source where anyone can find basic information about how our state legislature works: https://carolinaforward.org/legislature

What should North Carolina do about datacenters?

The biggest problem with datacenters is that they're forcing everyone else to pay more to subsidize their business. Our lawmakers are completely capable of putting an end to the subsidies - here's how.
