I've been in full Brit-Pop mode for the last couple of years and don't see myself emerging from it anytime soon. Adore Supergrass, Pulp, Blur, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (among others). So much melody with a not insignificant measure of social commentary. I love it.

I wish Vonnegut were here to get us through this.

'“Candlelight and black tie and my creative vision,” she says, as though listing the ingredients in a cauldron. “As first lady, children will always remain my priority,” she coos, and you can almost picture her coaxing them into her little gingerbread house.'

It's a scorching review: 'She glides from the fashion fitting to the table setting, and from the “candlelit dinner” to the “starlight ball”, with a face like a fist and a voice of sheet metal.'

I've just begun GRAVITY'S RAINBOW and, dammit, it is GOOD. For a long, long time I had resisted Pynchon, having been underwhelmed by THE CRYING OF LOT 49. For the same reasons as the original poster, I wanted to make a go of something meaty. It's surprisingly beautiful in its amusing awfulness.

Have you read much Hardy? Highly recommend THE MAYOR OF CASTERBRIDGE.

I did exactly this as well!

Our dog does this, too! He arrived in our lives with this habit. He's such a good, sweet boy!

I'm genuinely not surprised by any of this.

There have been so, so many of these pages since 2016.

Shaheen, man. She has no more primaries. She could have been on the right side of history, but no. And my other senator. Quislings, every last one of them. I'm so disgusted.
