kiyoshi kurosawa might be the most successful horror filmmaker of all time, just in terms of Actually frightening/haunting images. because i love horror but it doesnt need to be scary to be good, and most horror isn't scary. but kurosawa's work gets under my skin in a way nothing else does

when i was a kid my favorite character in anything would always be whoever was the weird little guy. my favorite LOTR character was gollum. my favorite star wars character was yoda. and i never watched the prequels so it wasnt even CGI Badass Yoda. just the little old man being cryptic in the woods
